Week Six

On Monday Oma Marie baby sat you for the first time while I went up to the Kamo bookshop to buy Tina, our midwife a thank you card. You snuggled up on Oma Marie’s chest and slept the whole time I was gone. I was only away from you for about half an hour, but Oma Marie loved having you. She’s going to look after you for three days a week at the end of the year when I have to go back to work. I really wish I didn’t have to go back to work. I would much rather spend every day with you. A couple of weeks ago you still weren’t too sure about your play gym, but now you seem to like playing on it a lot more. You’re even started to hit some of the toys. I’m not sure if it’s on purpose yet though. Sometimes you’ve even ended up having your nap there, because some days when I’ve put you back in your basinett you’ve got upset and have woken up straight away. This week we also had to say goodbye to Tina because she only visits you until you’re six weeks old. We gave her a bunch of flowers from Mint Floral and a voucher to go out for lunch at the Town Basin. I also put a photo of you in her card. Tina gave me a big hug and thanked us. On Wednesday we visited Nana Rosetta and Poppa Don’s house for the first time. Poppa Don excitedly carried you in your capsule from the car and into their house. They loved having you to visit and always fight over who gets to give you cuddles. Now that we have your buggy at home I decided that I would take you for a walk around the Hatea Loop at the Town Basin. Katrina wanted to come for a walk too so I picked her up on the way into town. Once we arrived I got the buggy out of the car and put it up, but then I couldn’t get the straps right. You got really upset because I was taking so long. It upset me that I was making you sad so in the end I gave up and decided we would try again another day. I couldn’t remember how to put the buggy down, which didn’t help things so I had to ring your dad. Then I got the buggy stuck half in the boot and half out of the boot when I went to put it away. In the end your dad came down from work to help me. So my first attempt at taking you out wasn’t very successful. On Sunday we went out together as a family for the first time. We went back down to the Town Basin, had brunch and took you for a little walk. Dad made putting your buggy up and down look like a piece of cake. We took some photos during our first outing and a couple kindly took a photo of all three of us together. You slept most of the time in your buggy while we were at the cafĂ© and when you woke up Dad took you for a little walk while I finished my lunch. I can’t wait to have more adventures with our little family.
