Week Eleven

On Monday night we got a bit of a fright. You often spill your milk after you’ve been feeding which is okay, but this afternoon was the second time that you’ve had a little bit of yellow in it. I wasn’t too concerned, but decided to ring the 0800 Plunket number after netball to check that it was okay and to see if they knew why this was happening. Often green or yellow in vomit isn’t a good sign so the nurse recommended that I take you to an after hours doctor. White Cross was about to shut in ten minutes so I knew we wouldn’t have enough time to go there and the only other option was to take you up to the emergency department at the hospital. You weren’t showing any signs of being unwell so we didn’t know if we were best to take you up there in the cold where you would be around other sick people, or wait and go to our own doctor tomorrow. After lots of talking we decided to wait until the morning. If it got worse we would take you up to the hospital. You were okay overnight and I got Poppa to make an appointment at the doctors for you the next day. I tried to ring the doctors on my mobile phone because we still don’t have a landline, but the reception wasn’t very good and it cut out. We saw Grace who I saw when I very first found out I was pregnant with you. She was so kind to you and checked you all over. She said that you were okay and wasn’t sure why there was a little bit of yellow in your milk spill. She said that if it was bile then your tummy would be sore and you would be throwing up green vomit. When she felt your tummy you didn’t seem to mind so that was a good sign. It hasn’t happened again since so hopefully it’s nothing to worry about. You were such a good boy while we waited at the doctors. They were running almost half an hour late and you never once got upset while I rocked you in your capsule. We had a quiet week this week and stayed at home most of the week. On Sunday you got to meet your new friend Joel for the first time. His dad and your dad grew up together so they’re so happy that you boys can grow up together too. Greer and I put both of you down onto the blanket so I could take a photo of you both. As soon as one of you started crying then you were both crying. We picked you up again and cuddled you until you were settled. After trying twice we decided to take a photo of you and Joel with your dads. I’m sure you will have lots of fun adventures with Joel once you’re both a bit bigger. Opa, Aunty Ayla and Uncle Steve also came to visit you on Sunday. Love you so much Lukey Bear x

Love from Mummy xx
