Week Thirteen

Happy 3 months Little Bear. I can’t believe that you’re already three months old. I’m so lucky that I get to be your mummy. There’s nothing in the world I would rather do than getting to spend each day with you; playing with you and watching you grow. You make me happier than anything else in this world. The Plunket nurse came on Tuesday 29th September. She measured you and weighed you. At exactly three months old you now weigh 6.22 kgs (13 lbs 11 oz) and are 64.5 cm long. You still don’t like tummy time, but are starting to cope with a couple of minutes at a time. We have to keep trying to do tummy time to help strengthen your neck and shoulders. As soon as you get upset I pick you up though. I’m sure it will get easier the more we practise. When you were lying on Daddy’s chest on the floor this week, you started using your legs to push yourself up your Daddy’s chest. Your little legs are so strong. You can lift your head a little bit, but I know it frustrates you still so I think that’s why you avoid doing it now. I don’t blame you. It doesn’t look like much fun! We will just keep doing little bits of tummy time each day. On Tuesday I went to visit baby Cooper and you stayed at Nana Rosetta’s and Poppa Don’s house. I didn’t want to take you to meet baby Cooper because Mya still has a cough so I will take you to visit Cooper once she is feeling better. Tina was there so I got to catch up with her too. After I picked you up I took you to visit Oma and Opa. They loved seeing you and having cuddles. Thursday was a beautiful, sunny morning so we went for a walk around the Town Basin loop with Katrina. It’s a lot easier now that I can put the buggy up and down by myself. You slept most of the way around and when you woke up you kicked off your socks. It was really warm so I rolled up the front of your plastic cover. It won’t be long and I will need to order the sun protection cover. Your portable cot arrived this week so I will have to practise putting that up over the weekend too. It’s got a special UV cover so will also double as a perfect play pen for us to use outside together over the summer. Saturday morning the All Blacks played and you got to wear your All Blacks onesie for the first time. Aaron and your Poppa came to watch the game too. Because the game was at 8 am Daddy and I made a cooked breakfast for everyone, after Daddy got back from the markets. The All Blacks won their game against Georgia and will play Tonga next weekend. I took a photo of you with Poppa in your All Blacks outfits. You are definitely the cutest All Black and by far my favourite. Friday night was the best sleep you’ve had. You slept from 9.30 pm through until just after 6.30 am. I was so proud of you. I have been looking at different ideas for our effluent field this week. We have to plant the rows out so I have decided that I will turn it into a bee and butterfly garden for you. We’ll plant lots of swan plants and other flower plants to attract the bees and butterflies. Hopefully we will also be able to get some ducks too and then will plant our trees for our orchard around the fence line. We might keep our chickens in there too. At the moment there are only four chickens, but we will get some more over summer. You keep spitting your dummy out and I think it’s probably because you are ready for your lunch so I will go and feed you. Love you lots Little Bear.

Love from Mummy xo
