First Week at Home x

The 30th of June was our first day at home together as a little family. Daddy doesn’t go back to work until Friday. We had visitors all day from just before 10.00 am until after 5.00 pm at night. Everyone wanted to spend time with you and to have cuddles. We were exhausted by the end of the day, but so in love at the same time. On Wednesday Daddy and I gave you your first bath in your turtle bath. Daddy lit the fire so the room was warm and we set everything up. We put you on the newborn sling so you were safe and sponged you with the warm water. You hated the bath and cried lots. As soon as you get upset I get upset too. Sometimes when you’ve cried having your nappy changed I’ve ended up crying too. I hate seeing you sad. I gave you a seahorse that lights up and plays music for being so brave while you had your first bath. On Thursday you had to have your heel prick. Daddy held you, but you didn’t even cry or make a sound. You seem to be more upset by being naked than having your heel prick done. You got another little present today – your Sleepy Tot bunny. Now we can attach your Nuk soother to it. It’s small so is the perfect size for you at the moment. On Friday Daddy went back to work. I was a bit nervous because it was our first day at home by ourselves together, but we were okay. In the early hours of Saturday morning Daddy got the same tummy bug that I’d had the couple of days before you were born. He didn’t want you to get sick so went and stayed with Oma and Opa. I felt really sorry for Daddy, but dropped him off some cold drinks and lemonade ice blocks. By Sunday he was feeling better so went and worked on our house, before coming home later on that afternoon. I was happy that he was feeling better and that our little family could all be together again. Aunty Laille also came to visit you this week. She has flown all the way from Dubai on the other side of the world to meet you. She was hoping to arrive before you were born, but she landed at Auckland airport the same day that you were born. Aunty Laille was so excited to see you and bought you lots of clothes. She is here until the first week of August so you’ll get to spend some more time with her. Love you so much Little Bear xo
